Heath Electrical Services has proudly partnered with Starship Technologies to support the next stage of autonomous delivery innovation in Milton Keynes, through a city wide installation of multiple new charging points for Starship’s delivery robots.
Founded on July 3rd 2014, Starship Technologies quickly became one of the world’s leading autonomous delivery companies. Since then, the company has continued to develop and expand its fleet of autonomous robots across towns and cities worldwide.
Milton Keynes has become one of the UK’s leading locations for smart city technology and autonomous transport solutions, with Starship robots becoming a familiar sight on local streets over recent years. These small self-driving delivery robots first launched in Milton Keynes in 2018, offering residents a convenient and environmentally friendly way to receive groceries, take-aways, and small deliveries directly to their door.

Since then, the service has continued to expand, with thousands of deliveries completed every week across the city. The robots are designed to travel safely on pavements using advanced navigation technology, helping to reduce car journeys for short local deliveries and creating a more environmentally friendly delivery solution.
A New Approach to Robot Charging
Previously, the robots would be collected by courier vehicles every evening and returned to a central base for overnight charging, before being redistributed across the city the following day. While effective, this process required additional transportation and operational downtime.

Working closely alongside Starship Technologies, Heath Electrical Services has now completed the installation of multiple strategically placed charging points throughout Milton Keynes, allowing the robots to recharge while remaining within their operational areas.
Supporting More Efficient, Environmentally Friendly Deliveries
This new charging infrastructure represents a significant step forward in the efficiency and future capabilities of autonomous delivery services. By removing the need for daily collection and redistribution, the new system helps:
- * Reduce unnecessary vehicle movements across the city
- * Improve operational efficiency
- * Increase robot availability throughout the day
- * Lower overall environmental impact
- * Support the continued growth of sustainable delivery solutions
The project highlights Heath Electrical Services’ ability to deliver innovative electrical infrastructure solutions that support emerging technologies and future-focused businesses.

As autonomous technology continues to evolve, projects like this help position Milton Keynes at the forefront of smart city development in the UK. Heath Electrical Services is proud to have played a role in supporting this important advancement in sustainable urban logistics.
